West Norfolk won by 67 runs

At the end of the 14th over we were 50 for 5 with an, on paper, very strong top order all back in the hutch on a two paced drying pitch.

A nice team picked itself for this highly enjoyable fixture at Trinity College ground Cambridge.

The Captain agreed a proper declaration game and we batted.

Everall got his season moving in the right direction after a tricky tour.

On Thursday 6th May 2010, the new Captain, Robert Gurney, and his wife, Samantha, kindly invited the membership of WNCC to a pre-season drinks party at Bawdeswell Hall. The aim was to start the season with a Club get together for young and old. We have a new influx of talented young cricketers.

With 9 players on the morning of the match, I was consolled by the knowledge that WNCC perform well with a reduced number of players. When the side was boosted by Hugh “threequarters” Waters half way through their innings, things looked up.

Rolled over by Greshams

On paper the side was so strong that the the match manager retired from duty (after a vote of no confidence in his keeping from the club captain).

A day when the record books were broken, with the aggregate score of 389 being the highest ever recorded at Salle.

Marcus Seaman managed to assemble 13 players – with the half being under 25 years old* (and also old Uppinghamians OU’s).

Burghley Park won the toss and batted.

A professional performance, WNCC did the job. Hagen, Stanton B, Thompson and Courtauld bowled out a talented if youthful Burghley Park XI. A good catch from JK in the slips, and RG took three to the gloves.

A godly century seals victory for WN

The match manager (Stanton R) chose the beautiful setting of Stow Bardolph to try a new theory for 20:20 which proved a winning formula. He selected a side with more spin than an election campaign, but a good mix of youth and experience with several fine debutants.

Dersingham destroyed by Thompsons

Won with 1 wicket and 3 balls to spare.

Castle rise to the occasion

West Norfolk turned up at Castle Rising on a sunny afternoon for the last game of the season. Unfortunately the toss was lost and WN were inserted.
