Castle rise to the occasion

West Norfolk turned up at Castle Rising on a sunny afternoon for the last game of the season. Unfortunately the toss was lost and WN were inserted.

John Everall and Henry Rudkin got the innings off to a great start. Everall uncharacteristically hitting fours and sixes – obviously taking over where his brother left off last year. Rudkin ran himself out for 27 and Everall was caught for a very good 69, leaving WN 110 for 2. After this the innings rather faltered with WN eventually declaring on 207 for 9 – about 50 runs short on this small ground.

Marcus Seaman opened the bowling with an excellent spell, taking 2 wickets and relying on the old hands of Skinny Skerrit. Despite some tight bowling Castle Rising steadily accumulated runs. So the Skipper turned to D.Culling and H.Hammond to see if they could replicate some of the magic of the previous year. However the magic was obviously fleeting, as is often the case with WN, and certainly couldn’t be replicated – the run rate increased.

Castle Rising cruised to an easy victory reaching 207 with 6 overs to spare.
